hi everyone a very good freind of mine just bought a supposed "1959" mini race car that was built by fred game and raced in the early 1970's. this car was floating around ebay for a long time before we bought it so expect alot of you have seen it before? anyway we know the history from the last 10 years or so the car was sat abandoned in a garage in plymouth with no engine in. The car it self is now has a 1995 mini 1275 in it and needs alot of work to tidy it up will take more piuctures next time i see it. the previous seller has given us fred games contact details and we are trying to track him down. also apparently this car has fetured in car and car convertions (practical classics) in the 1970's if anyone has any info be much appriciated. we have found only one photo of the car so far car heres a link to a prevous topic on the mk1 fourm also the ebay ad. we would love to put the car back to its origonal livery even though its blue the previous owner said that it was know as "Freds Red Barron" can you help? many thanks luke

Not back yet, still away. Will check as soon as I'm back.

Buy I was talking about it with my dad. He remembers it from the CCC mags so it must be in there. Also, do you know what kind of races it competed in? It would be in the old autosport mags race results sheets so I could give those to you too:)

well we found the car in later 1974 issues of car and car convertions it hasent changed from 1974 to now whats strange seeing it in the photos back then, also had a good freind of mine look round the car and has confirmed along with the magazines that this is a genuine 1959 mini or whats left of one, the floor pans, inner and outer sills are correct for the year and also use to have the magic wand gear change what has been blanked. it also has the early twin bolt subframe. pitty the car is so battered trying to get hold of fred game himself if he is still alive :proud:

Yeah, outer sills are flat and one piece with the floor, inner sills are separate and floor pressing is correct for pre-September 59. Looks like they are all original too. Starter button mount is also correct for a 59. Shame all of the rears are chopped about.

been in touch with the 59 register found some numbers stamped into the top of the wing what has dated it to October 1959! result next job is to try and find some of the original paint as this will narrow down what the id of this car was, the club are also trying to get hold of fred himself. the register has also said the way its looking may be able to apply for a heritage certificate and then apply for a age related plate!
