Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying my first Mini and have come across a couple of interesting ones advertised by GC Motors in Swanley (http://www.gcminis.co.uk/). I don't know much about the company though and have had some bad experiences buying cars before (lots of rust under shiny paint etc.).

So, has anyone bought a car from them? Or know anything about them?

Thanks,
Tommy

Might also be worth a post in regional section as there may be clubs local who know them as they have a lot of minis!

Also known as The Mini Centre in Swanley...

They're all pretty good there, and they rebuild them before sale, can buy some top quality ones if your willing to part with your money...

Also supplied the Mini to Richard Hammond in the India challenge on Top Gear

I have had a look around there a couple of times, and my opinion, which is somewhat shared on here, is that they are overpriced. There are some nice cars there without a doubt but they cost a few k more than they should.

If you feel more confident buying from a dealer than private, I am sure there are plenty of dealers nearer to Bath than Swanley. I have nothing to say about them except, expensive. If the cars are prepared really well to last then that might be OK, that depends on you and your ability to work on a car or the time you can spare, that's up to you.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

My major problem is that I have very specific requirements: I need a 998 automatic. I'm also quite fussy about the colour. GC have a nice looking yellow 998 auto on their site. I'm pretty good when it comes to looking after the mechanical bits of cars but I don't do bodywork. So I'm looking for something solid. The problem I've had in the past is that I've bought cars that looked solid but were rusty underneath filler and shiny paint.

If anyone knows of a good solid 998 auto for sale, or has any recommendations of dealers I'm all ears.

I've seen those. Unfortunately you've found 2 cars for sale in colours I really do not want (black and silver).

The orange one may have potential, and I may go have a look as it's nearby.

I'm afraid I'm physically unable to drive a manual due to an old injury, so it has to be an auto for me.

Still interested in whether anyone has actually bought from GC Minis?

Has it got to be a 998 auto? A high proportion of the 1275 cc cars re-imported from Japan by people like the Real Mini Co are auto and they are amost always largely rust free and in very good condition.

From watching ebay, GC Motors seem to be driving up the prices of good used Minis all on their own, and hoovering up much of the best of the Minis.

As a Mini owner, I don't mind the prices being driven up!  But it does seem a bit artificial somehow.   If I win the lottery though, I may be there to help fill up my dream Mini garage.

Today they have listed a 'Mini Balmoral' when what they actually mean is a standard Mini 1.3i, with Balmoral seat trim....  the Balmoral was never sold in the UK.
