Hi all I've stripped the underside of my mini of under seal and I've rust treated everything then given it a good thick coat of red oxide with a paint brush looks really good I'm just wondering weather I can spray stone chip strait on to the red oxide or do I need to etch it first?
Any advice most appreciated thanks guys.
Regards Lee

Etch can only go on bare metal. Not on paint or primer.

No point in etch primering paint, it only works as etch primer on bare metal

To stone chip you need to bare metal. Dust of etch. Once dry stonechip then overpaint. Best stonechip i find is upol gravitex.

You can scuff it up with 80grit and try that but you do so at yoir own risk. :)

I'd just put the stonechip over the top of the oxide primer. The problem with stonechip over bare metal is if chipped and water finds it's way in behind, it will start rusting away unnoticed .

The primer will need to have dried thoroughly or the stonechip will react and split. Been there done that and its a pain in the backside.

Thats why i etch first to aid adheasion and prevent rust :)
