All, David Vizard contacted me the othe day. As you are probably aware he is running one of his tuning seminars on 7th-9th September in Swansea. I've copied the details below in case anyone isn't aware. What he did ask me was to put the word around about a cylinder head workshop he would also like to run somewhere around these dates. He is aiming to run this in a fully equipped engineering shop for 10 people but will possibly hold more workshops if there is enough interest. These would cost the equivalent of $180.00 per day which sounds good value for money to me. Please note I have NO financial interest in this at all, I contacted his Race Auto Tech page on Facebook with a Mini releated question and he asked me in passing whether I would mind putting the word out. You can either let me know or respond to Dave on his Race Auto Tech Facebook page.

DV Seminar Update Swansea, UK 7th-9th Sep:-
Although titled a ‘Seminar’, my ‘How to Build Horsepower’ Seminar scheduled for this September 7th to 9th at Swansea Metropolitan University will be somewhat more than just dialog and illustration...
s. Race winning engine builder Mike Parry will be on hand with one of his race dominating (that’s a reality not a figure of speech) ‘A’ Series engines. This engine will be seen on the Swansea Universities dyno instrumented with in-cylinder pressure measuring equipment to demonstrate how the adjustment of intake and exhaust lengths affect the pressure waves that can augment the engines output. This engine, which Mike has labeled a ‘Built by the Book’ engine, (that’s my big 528 page yellow ‘A’ Series book) has been extremely successful on the track and Mike has agreed to do a tell-all on its development and specification. Although the test engine here is an ‘A’ Series it should be noted that the lessons it demonstrates on port velocities, airflow, cam events and induction/exhaust tuning apply across the board even to an F1 engine.

As a speaker attendees will find that Mike Parry is both very entertaining and a gifted conveyor of information. Mike is essentially one of DV’s top protégé’s and has been very successful for the past 25 years as one of UK leading race engine builders. He has a great deal of experience in the field of racing 4 and 5 valve engines. As a development engineer he is considered one of the countries top and most successful engine guru’s.

Also we have just had conformation that the international race winning engine developer/builder Dave Mountain of Mountune racing will be along to help deliver some as yet untold speed secrets to attendees. Although airflow is a prime subject (as per my book above), a lot of what will be covered is related to port and cylinder pressure measurements. Attendees will learn how they can instrument an engine with port and cylinder data acquisition for substantially less than the cost of a typical flow bench.
