Hi all, me again...
Just thought id share my adventures of earlier today. I was driving back from chester and pulled in to Keele services (i think?) and as i was parking up, an old man (no offemce intended to anyone) stood up of his bench and clapped loudly with his hands above his head and a smile beaming from ear to ear! As i was getting out he rushed over and shouted 'well done sir! You have a real one!' (please dont bini bash!) then proceeded to talk to me about his past and the minis he has owned and held me up for about 10 minutes haha ;-) its times like this that make you proud to own a mini i think...

I get this also a lot and have one crazy guy by me with a putbull that has come up to me about 5 times now explaining when he had a mini it had 2 gearboxes, 1 automatic 1 manual, I just agree with him but cracks me up everytime !

The older generation love it as its a gateway into their youth I think which is always nice :-)

Once on the M25 just after my Mini had been restored (11 years ago!) I overtook a Jag S type (newer type) which contained a young family.

Much waving, smiling and mutual appreciation. It was a nice moment. Made the restoration bill worthwhile!

I hope you thanked him properly and bought him another can of Special Brew to repalce the one he knocked off his bench!

I got collared by the instructor at the gym last night after he saw the Mini in the car park. Being a male I should know better than to try to multi task. Whist enthusing about the car I wasn’t concentrating on what I was doing and went flying off the back of the treadmill!

Luckily the only damage done was to my pride!

Ado1379 thats a brilliant story what Minis did he have? Old people (no offence again) love the old minis. My neighbour and her husband are in their 60s-70s and she always comes up to me when I fire up Sheldon, and always says "she" is a beautiful car, lovely sound "she" makes! Wish she would stop calling my Sheldon a "she" >_< lol. Had some bloke the other day come up to me asking for a lift in my Mini, he took it upon himself to step onto my driveway right the way to the back of the car. Shoulda told him to get off but he looked really dodgy so I just said not today, the Mini isnt working at the mo. Havnt seen him since thankfully.

Similar thing happened the other day to me, was filling up with petrol and saw this lady keep looking over. So as I walked to pay she walked in to pay too and said love your Mini etc, makes you proud when you hear someone say that :) Also love when your cruising and people over take you and smile & then you overtake them and smile back :) Good fun!

He said he owned a load of 850's back in his day. And i actually enjoyed it. (although he was talking about carbs and mines injection) but it happens to me alot. I think because mines blue with a big white circle and a number 7 on it people seem to stare alot lol. My next door neighbours love my car, and they keep telling me off for washing it every weekend in case i wash the paint off ;-)
