1000 miles ago I had the CV joints replaced, done by an Mini Specialist in Glasgow, I used them often and knew well and trusted them, that Relationship came under some strain after them "Forgetting" to do work I'd asked for and quoting for further work I disagreed with, I.e replacement Subframe, it doesn't need one. This has since been checked and was found to be perfectly safe and solid
A few days ago I noticed really bad clicking on turning just as I'd heard before the last CV joints were done, I took it to a recommended by a friend to a Good garage scheme places, . I was told the CV's were bone dry no grease on them at all and also the gaiters had split I saw this for myself. Twice the CV had to be replaced in a matter of months. This garage also worked on the carb as the jet at the bottom, Mixture adjustment was stuck.
The new garage also warned against a small oil leak they'd found, I knew about this one but was putting it off as it appears to be leaking where the engine and gearbox join (automatic).
Picked it up today, after some inital cutting out after reving, a slight further mixture adjustment was done felt great on the way back, Idling a bit fast in netural but steering and car felt happy.
Got back 5 miles turned car off a massive oil leak from the right hand side, it was rainning what looked like the bottom of gearbox, it looks like that seal I was warned about had finally split.
So peeded off I cant tell ya
Thanks for letting me vent, its sitting outside wetting itself

I was taken for a ride by an individual who really should have know better,he and his so called business were so -called experts and in reality turned out to be no more than a silly little boy,no more than some card board cut-out incompitant fool.
However there was light at the end of the tunnel, and i eventually found a company who actually knew what they were talking about,so i feel your frustration.
Did you go back to the original garage and explain to them the problems that have since been discovered??

This is what my auto used to do. I actually had a good look when I had the engine out & still do it regularly now it's on the road. Is check the bolts aren't loose. Mine at the start were so loose . Now I just keep my eye on a couple of bolts. & now have no leaks
Hopefully your gaskets not gone completely.
If its still leaking when it's not running though I'd suggest looking at your driveshaft oil seals or diff gasket

Its good to have a rant every now and then mate.

We had words come MOT when it passed and to my mind it shouldn't, there was play in radius arm indentified by the tester, Mini speciist just regreased it, and it passed mmmmm really ?? my thoughts were if its worn, replace it, It was suggested I might want to furnish the tester with a crate of beer, I was horrifed at this, and firmly said "The cars either safe to use or its not" I got the impression he couldn't be arsed.
Some of you may remember my question about subframe replacement I was quoted 25 hrs for the job, same guy. I'm lead to belive and you can do it 7-8 hours.
This guy has seen me go from a fit-ish fella to a guy who now uses a mobility scooter and hasn't worked since. Since the accident I really struggle to do even a basic servcie, it took me 7 hours to reset tappets, a normal 20 minute job.
Guess the guy thought aah ha easy money £££, Just because I cant do the work anymore, doesn't mean I didn't know how to before, well some things, in order to check where the leak is I had to get someone to take photos and show me.
One thing I learned theres and lovely genuine people in the mini world, but theres some utter gits too

The same can be said for every part of society. The trick is to remove the 'gits' (some of my vocabulary is a little bit bluer here!) from your life.
If it's a matter of you knowing how to do the work but not being able, is there a relative or relative of a friend who is interested in cars? I find young enthusiasts are always raring to get their hands on an actual car and it provides them with some serious inspiration. Particularly with jobs like the tappets, something quite easy, where all you really need is someone able to push the car about.
Could be an answer to your problem, partially at least - I wouldn't be putting an amateur up to the task of swapping a subby over
