whats the certificate you get from the end of the year from footman james for not claiming and does anyone know if most companies accept it as a form of no claims

It's a letter, simply stating that you did not claim during the time you were insured with them. It's not an official certificate asuch. As for companies accepting it as no claims you'll have too ask them, Aviva did for me but I know plenty of companies that wouldn't as officially it's not a no claims bonus!

Elephant as far as I know don't accept FJ as a years no claims >_<

if they don't accept it ask them why not? all they need to see is that you haven't claimed.
if they still say no phone the ombudsman and see what they say ;-)

They are i had to ring admiral up and they said they dont take it

Its normal for companies to not accept the no claims from classic policy's as proper NCB, its fair enough really considering what a classic policy is inteneded to cover - Classic cars used occationally, often only in dry weather.

It doesn't really count as a proper year of claim free driving.

Aviva apparently accept it, going by testimonials on here, but when I phoned them they claimed they didn't
Going on holiday for a week now, I'm hoping when I phone them after I get back that it isn't just a recent change in policy and if I'd called a week earlier then I would have got it.....
