I'm fed up of all the crap on this forum, I never posted asking 'DO I NEED REAR SEATBELTS, ARE BELTS SAFE?'

I'll do as I want with my own car and dont need to be told that seatbelts are safe - I didnt come in on a banana boat yesterday.

Mate, you really need to try and understand that this is an on-line forum and as such it is a place for debate. The responses made to any thread you start here are not solely "for your eyes only", others can and will learn from the content here. Others reading this thread, and specifically those that have searched for information surrounding rear seat belts, could well benefit from this information even if you don't, so really you have no rights of ownership to what is displayed here, even if you were the OP.

What's more, you yourself specifically inferred that it was OK to drive around with unrestrained rear passengers so long as you "wont be driving like a ******* when the mini is full". So for me, as a health care professional who has the unenviable task of dealing with the trauma and aftermath of road traffic collisions on a regular basis, I see it as imperative that I pass on the benefit of my knowledge experience to others where it may be relevant/vaild. So it's unfortunate if you see this as "sucking eggs", but I will continue to contribute this kind of content and make no apology for doing so, whilst there is any chance that it results in me or my colleagues having to work on one less trauma victim, or having to tell one less mother that their son/daughter is dead.

Oh & I might add that describing any advice provided here as "crap" is both rude and completely unnecessary, the polite thing to do with any advice given is to thank people for their contribution an then either take it, or leave it!! So a little forum etiquette really wouldn't go amiss here!!

What are you on about? Of course its not for my eyes only or I wouldnt of posted it!

You can't result to blackmail here as I have just lost someone close to a mate as posted earlier on in that newspaper link. Many old cars have no rear - or even front belts. And if you were so nailed down on safety then I'm surprised you haven't told me to sell my mini and buy a safer car.

I didn't ask for your advice and I am well aware of the dangers of car crashes. I liked how mab01uk put it as it was open minded and didn't hint at the fact it was a no brainer and implying I was born yesterday.

A few people on here seem to think their way is the only way so almost put the other person down.

I know its not amazingly safe to not have rear belts but its a classic car and the roads near me aren't renowned for being death traps.

I think your being rude by insulting my common sense to be quite honest, mate.

What I am "on about" is that you keep saying that you didn't ask for advice about safety, as if to say that people shouldn't contribute anything here on this post unless it directly answers the original question you posted (as if the responses made here are for your benefit and no-one else.)

If you took my "no brainer" comment as implying that you were born yesterday, then you misunderstood the point I was making and I can only apologise. What I meant was that is was a simple equation, either fit rear seat belts or don't use the rear seats, it was really as simple as that, with no other inference intended. I am not trying to insult your common sense in any way, or put anyone down and I am genuinely sorry if that is what you have read in any of my posts. I am not in anyway trying to blackmail you either. I am merely explaining why I have made the contribution that I have because of the profession I work in and that I will continue to make such contributions where there is any suggestion that someone is planning to have unrestrained rear passengers. That is all.

Now I'm not going to get into a bun fight here for the benefit of the popcorn watching audience either, everything that I have contributed here was meant with the best of intentions for the benefit of all concerned.
