Hello all,

I have just started to change the front floor panel on the LHS only to find that I need to change the entire floor panel from front to rear on both sides. I am looking to use a full length panel on both sides. I also need to change the heelboard. I was wondering if there is any way I can remove the rear subframe and still support the car to carryout the repair? And ideas and pictures would be great.

Thanks Carlos,do you have any dimensions for your spit. As it is whatineedfor the shell I have restore. However the car I am working on is a complete car currently with both front and rear SubframeHi in place and also the engine. I am very restricted on space as I have a shell in my garage so cannot put much there and do not want to leave too much outside.

You need to take out all of the subframes, engine etc. Too much weight to spit plus you are replacing the subframe mounts anyway with the floor out.

Instead of replacing the floor in two halves have you considered replacing the whole thing in one go??
13.33.00.00 Floor Assembly, Complete, Square Tunnel, Mk3-4 £654.00 from M machine.

This is the complete floor including inner sills, cross member, rear heelboard.

Big job yes but then once done you will have a brand new floor with no welding other than the spot welds that attach it to the front toe board, rear seat pan and along the sides of the car etc.

As space is tight a spit will be needed but you will need to store all of the other bits. That i'm afraid will be a must.

Don't forget you will need to get access to the inner sill stiffeners one both sides so removal of the companion bins will be needed here if you have still got the rear quarters fitted.
