i guys so i am going megajolt for my ignition , i was just wondering if ive got everything i need and i haven't missed anything off

so ive got a coil pack , edis 4 unit , a pickup sensor and loom
now what else i think i need is the actual megajolt unit and it will be taken on the manifold so will i need a map sensor?, the trigger wheel , a longer bolt to hold the trigger wheel on and a bracket for the sensor, also i was wondering how you go on to drive the tacho they sell something to drive the tacho but i was wondering if it can be made up to save my self 10 quid , thanks in advance

You have mot of the bits, as you say, the other things you will need are the megajolt box and the correct plug for it (there are two different versions) and a trigger wheel that fits with your sensor bracket.

With driving your tacho, the easiest thing to do is connect the white/black wire from the tacho to the edis module. It's the pin one down from top (pin 11/12 i think) and this will run your speedo.

Check out the Specialist Components Website. They have a bolt on crank wheel and trigger sensor mount specific to the mini.

Sounds like everything to me.

For the tacho, the MJ has a tach output which for some people works and other it doesn't. Mine works sort of but not very accurately (says it idles and 2000rpm) and when you put you foot down it flops around all over. So i'm going to rewire it directly from the coil.

The tacho driver that trigger wheels sell is just made up of 3 diodes that you can buy for pence from maplin. Theres some info on diode part numbers on the MJ website. You just need to follow the diagram on the MJ site and solder the diodes into the coil wiring to get a signal from them.

I didn't know the EDIS module could run a mini rev counter, i'd try that first. I'd try it myself but all the wires that weren't used on my EDIS plug have been cut off.

hey guys so i ordered my stuff up to go megajolt and decided to take a closer look at my loom tonight and it confussed me abit so i removed some of the loom tape
Posted Image

so am i right in thinking that the blue/yellow wire thats in with the brown and blue/red is to the pip and the blue/red is the saw ?

my other confusion is the ground , the brown cable that comes out with the blue/yellow and blue/red comes from number 4 ( whats this for ? ) the shielding around the 3 cables (brown , blue/yellow and blue/red) is soldered up to the cable that goes to the pickup and this is soldered to the shielding and the cable thats number 7 is this all correct as in the drawing it says number 7 and 9 should be connected together so do they need connecting or do i just need to connect 9 down to earth ?

also can the cable going to the coil be as long as you want ( well inside the dash to the front of engine bay ? )

also i have been told you can power the tacho from the edis , how do you go about that thanks in advance guys :D
