i have had my mega jolt fitted on my mini for 6months now, i have found it to be running great but today i was wiring a tacho and i have noticed it makes no difference to the running of my car at all if the megajolts plugged in or not!! so i can only presume i have been running on the (limp home mode)since its all been fitted. how much difference is there between running the limp mode to the fully set megajolt? because im running 93bhp atf as it is! can any one advise me whats going on? as id expect to see a massive difference to be honest cheers

You need to strobe the engine while its running and see what timing you have got.

hm thats the other problem i dont believe theres any timing marks on the lower pulley and i reved it up stationary with it unplugged and there was no noticeable difference, ill take it for a spin tommorrow with it dissconnected and get back with my findings! how could i put timing marks on the lower pulley? cheers

You need to locate TDC on number 1 cylinder then set up a pointer on the crank pully to point to a mark which you make to line up with the pointer at TDC. Then you can strobe.

Hook it up to a computer, if the MJ is running it'll show on the runtime display - the bit that looks like an intensive care machine.

ah took it for a spin tonight with the megajolt unplugged, then plugged it in and i can confirm the megajolt is making a difference to performance, makes it smoother and more powerfull, but it would out do a standard 1275 on the limp mode to be honest, do they normally run this well on limp mode? cheers guys sorting timing bits another job to do lol also could anyone tell me why my brand new tim tacho seems to only read half the revs it should when wired to the megajolt lol

Maybe your crank sensor is positioned to give extra advance than the 10 degrees the edis provides. As above, a wasted spark coilpack is 2 coils, each providing half the sparks. Both the edis & MJ have a pin for driving a tacho, if they don't work a simple diode circuit will join the 2 coils without interference - It's all explained on the Autosport site.
