Hi everyone Just in middle of fitting my stage 1 kit to my 1994 mini. Originally this was a auto and still has an auto subframe but now has 1275 metro engine in place of the auto engine.

I have fitted the lcb and inlet and tightened them up then went to fit the y piece and relised i shouldn't of tightened lcd + inlet up but I managed to get the Y piece on. My problem is though its not sitting in the channel and is hitting the floor?

Could this be down to the engine sitting slightly off with it being an auto frame?

I'm also needing to know what bolt thread the inlet manifold will be for putting the Carb back on?

should be a bracket that comes of the gearbox to the exhaust...If you adjust this right it will keep the Y piece off the floor.

Also are your engine steadies back on, could be engine is leaning foreward slightly..

best to keep most parts loose till its all on then bit of twisting, should work ok.

i've still to get the fitting kit for the exhaust but ordered that today. Will loosen off the bolts again then have a little play around see if there is movement

Loosen all the exhaust clamp bolts. Do not loosen the manifold stud nuts.
Fit the rest of the exhaust loosly and position it at the back at the rear sub-frame.
Hammer a wooden wedge betewen the floor and the Y-piece so that you have a good clearance of at least 3/8", maybe a bit more..
Now tighten up the exhaust manifold to gearbox casing bracket so that no movement is possible.
Next tighten the Y-piece clamps and work your way back until all clamps are tight. Fit and tighten the rear sub-frame to exhaust mountings. Check the exhaust boxes have clearance with the body.
Finally remove the wooden wedge and check for sufficient clearance in that area. The clearance there can be as little as 1/4" and that's OK.

is the lcb the correct one. it could be for a 998, where the block is shorter.

I ordered it for the 1275 so would hope it is the right one.

I have the exhuast sitting in place and now waiting on minispares delivering the fitting Kit,

I loosed the lcb and inlet off but there still sitting on the studs, I then put the full system on (nothing is tight though) And then put a wedge in at the Y piece, I also noticed the down pipe was hitting the driveshaft so ive put a wedge in there just now.

That looks like the right approach. Once the clamnp bracket between the lower part of the manifold pipe and the gearbox casing is in place that will help to keep it in position. Some LCB's can be a bit difficult. The worst one I had did hit both body and output joint and in the end I had to heat it up with a butane torch so that it would bend slightly. If you end up doing that make sure you don't set fire to the blooming car!

Hopefully wont come to that, I actually thought of Cutting the Y piece and re welding it so it sat good. Ill wait till the fitting kit comes then take it from there.

Need to search the net/forum now to see how I use the kit as my original exhuast had hangers

Just a quick one, I have this bracket sitting which come with the exhaust, where does it go?

Thats the one that fits to the gearbox and onto one of the lcb pipes

If you get your clearances sorted first then fit bracket it should help hold the exhaust away from the bodywork, one in picture is slightly different but same idea

Ah thats great, i'm understanding that. Does it go straight to gear box or the old mount I have for my standard exhaust?

whatever works best ...as long as its fitted and clamps the exhaust.
