Hi their, im running an oil cooler but the person who owned the car before me fitted it on the squiff!!!
Its bolted to the bodywork In front of the alternator. There is a chunk which has been gouged out of the cooler because its so close to the alternator blade (thingy). I have reset the bracket to stop it fouling buts its still dodgy.
Any ideas??
I would have thought the bracket should be fitted to the sub frame?

oil coolers are normally mounted to the front panel of the car just behind the grille not to the subframe so i am suprised at it being mounted to subframe unless you have a fibreglass front end??? if so the best place to mount it is to the stregthening that goes from the bulkhead to subframe. you ve got to ask urself aswell if you actually need an oil cooler as on most engines they really arent needed and can actuallty cause more damage then they prevent as oil will not get upto temp

Will try n get a pic on tonight if poss, yeah it is mounted to the body behind the grill. Its the proximity to the alternator thats worrying me, but i get that like u said it being an aftermarket part their is no set place for it to be.

The kit comprises two brackets which bolt onto the front panel across the centre of the grille aperture.
The lower edge of the grill aperture is flattened locally and the brackets bolt onto the lower flange of the front panel and the flattened section of front panel.
It is necessary to remove the vertical support in the grill aperture, or convert it to a Cooper 'S' diagonal type.
It can also be necesssary to spacer the grill forward about 3/8" to clear the cooler, but if you are using a pair of grille buttons that is easy.
