Hi,

I recently rebuilt my engine and it runs fine apart from a couple of niggles.

Firstly, when i come to start the car from cold in the morning, it needs to turn over for 5-6 seconds before firing into life. During this time there is knocking noise coming from the engine bay. Could this indicate worn engine mounts? The noise disappears once engine running. Engine has a bit of play when rocked but not alot.

Secondly and not sutre if related to above or not, but when cold and especially when pulling off for the first timein the morning the car / engine judders manically as the clutch is lifted past the bite point and until full release. All other gear changes are fine except for going down to fourth to third where there is sometimes a judder but not as bad as in first.

Also sometimes when pulling away in first (again only when cold) there is a noise like a metallic skid and only happens as teh clutch is engaged or disengaged. Could this point to a clutch release bearing problem or justa lack of grease. I did clean the clutch cover prior to refitting. Also on depressing the clutch there is a chaneg in pitch of the engine.

I have check ed the bottom of the flywheel housing to see if any oil coming out of hole at bottom and this seems fine.

Any help would be much appreciated
