what is this ? i took it off my mini when i had a new front welded on was wondering what it does and if i need it ?

Isn't that a ballast resistor?

I'd have a look in my Haynes manual, but it's locked in the garage outside >_<

As above, its for the dim dip system, I disconnected mine :thumbsup:

ahhh didnt think of the haynes xD mines locked up at work haha :L i will look in a workshop manual my uncle gave me that he had when he was a lad xD

this is probably going sound dim , but whats the purpose of it and if i traced the wires back could i remove them ?

Ballast resistor...i thought it was to compensate for the dip in voltage to the lights and other electricals when the starter motor is working ? it was used on the 12v supply minis, i maybe wrong though.

EDIT: i wouldn't remove it imo...it was put there for a reason

ahhh , would it be possible to move it then , as im trying to keep the engine bay as tidy as possible ?
