right guys a few of you may remember i restored my mini around a year ago its a 1991 mini neon with a stage 1 998. Heres a link for those who missed the build very pleased with how the mini turned out get loads of comments especially about the colour ford imperial blue
http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/131627-mini-neon-just-got-my-first-mini-1991/page__hl__%2Bmini+%2Bneon
after driving the mini for a year it soon became clear it has the second gear baulk ring going so i decided i would build a fast road 998 for it ready to go in when im 20 next year first a few photos of my mini at its current state only change is it will soon have mk2 lights

Nice mini and build. The 12G295 is definatley the way to go. You could never get a standard head to flow like a 295. Deffinatley like the idea of bike carbs.

no real updates but gonna have to get a new manifold for this as the weld on my previous one has given up also contemplating a motorbike back box to match the carbs

Hi,

nice mini by the way. What does fitting bike carbs do to the performance over say a twin su system (not an expert obviously lol) ??

from the research Ive done theirs quite a few advantages but their a bit of a pain to fit
generally newer carbs so they attomise the fuel better resulting in better performance
better fuel economy
their cheap and on the right engine give similar if not better performance as a Weber and you don't need bulkhead modification
make throttle response better
and they stay in tune unlike twin su carbs which Ive been told have to constantly be played with to keep on tune.
and its just something a bit different but well see what they perform like once their all done luckily ive got a friend who runs them on his mk2 golf so hes gonna set them up for me

well its been a long time and much has happened. Soon after my last post the mini was put away in the garage for winter and never came out due to various reasons the main one being a student and a new vw obsession, here i am three corrados later looking at my mini thinking im not done with you yet. The other night a friend came round yesterday we pushed the mini out jump started it and after a bit of fettling she roared into life and ran beutifully had to release the clutch as it was stuck and put some fresh petrol but gave it a quick thrash up the drive and the smile was soon back. Part two starts here for the moment im planning to just get an mot on it and drive it for a while as since restoring it ive only driven it around six months. The new engine has sat in the garage with the head of since the last post so i will be building that back up and dropping it in so heres a few pics i thought you might like and some of a few of my other projects

here the first corrado i had a thread on here for it i brought it for 300 quid badly resprayed i spent hours wet sanded it and loved it but for some reason sold it and it has no been scrapped :(

then their was this corrado originally a 1.8 16v i converted it to a 2.0 16v abf it was great and i loved it had it about 10 months before my vr6 craving became to much

10346626_10203180756776251_3904029628064

then came the vr6 saved up for ages brought the best one i could find factory recaros vr6 in blackberry etc and the whole thing was disappointing start to finish the car looked great but the vr6 ruined the handling and underneath was very beaten up due to the previous owners i sold this one after only 4 months very disapointed and fed up after it tried to kill me several times i decided the corrado i wanted wasnt out their unless i built it so i got all sensible and i brought an e46 330 ci which is great if not a little boring

now i have a new project a narrowboat me and my girlfriend brought around 6 months ago its a 1909 70 ft bcn day boat with a dorman 2dwd and to say it keeps us busy is an understatment this was always our plan hoping to eventually live on it something i have been doing for around 6 months while ive worked in a few boat yards i love it and we have plenty of plans for it so ill keep you updated on that aswell if your intrested

Glad this car got the care and attention it needed! I owned it in 2007, and found most of the bodges carried out by the previous owner and decided I'd bitten off more than I could chew. I then moved it on to the guy who I believe you purchased it from (or his widow)?
