Just wanting some opinions,
Looking into a new bike soon so will be wanting a bike rack to go on the mini, I did a search and saw people using the thule roof bars, how do people rate them though? is the bike properly secured on them?
any other options available?

cheers

Photos of racks are a requirement when talking about good racks and bad racks, so we can better offer our expertise.

Thule bars and a 591 rack for my bikes. The bars lock to the car, the rack to the bars, then the bike to the rack. Very solid and well worth the money considering the cost of the bike it carries.

cheapo paddy hopkirk bars and a £20 halfords holder for me, nice and solid even at speed :)
Didn;t see the point spending loads as its not often i used the mini to carry the bike.

I keep getting tempted to fit a tow bar to have a tow bar mounted one.

thanks for the help guys

Turbo nick, does the halfords holder not just bolt on then? I did look at them for £20 but it didnt seem to say what I'd need to fit on my car

It comes with small U bolts that fit round the rectangular roof bars. It's not the greatest looking thing in the world but it does the job pretty well.

I've also got one of those rear mounted racks but because of my plastic windows it wouldn't stay sturdy enough.
