Hi All,

I have a 1996 Equinox which is an SPI. But there are no hangers on the rear subframe.

I have just bought a RC40 Exhaust with the hangers. Is it easier to have normal the normal type fittings or dril holes and buy the hangers to attach the the rear subframe?

Also what kits would i need for both options?

Many Thanks,

James

do you not have any holes drilled in your sub frame already? How was your original exhaust attached?

Its hard to see, I don't know exactly where the hangers should be attached. The original exhaust had handmade hangers that have been welded onto the exhaust. :S

Well the rear most hanger should bolt through the sub frame on the LH side through two holes. get under there with a torch and have a poke about, they could be bunged up with dirt if the where not used.

There should also be a hanger attached at the rear of the rear subframe in centre, one mine there are two captive nuts in the subframe which are used to bolt the rubber hanger/square bobbin with two bolts to the captive nuts.

If its been bodged in the past with custom hangers then the captive nuts could have been threaded. Its hard to know what to suggest with out looking at it.

HTH anyway.

Thanks!

I could use the normal fittings like this? Which may fit better.

They should be fine.

EDIT.

Actually, i just noticed you have an SPI, I think you may need a different type of cantre hanger depending on your exhaust. If it is the early style that kit will do i think, not to sure if the threaded holes are in the later frames for the centre mount though.
If you have the later type exhaust, then there should be a hanger spike welded to the exhaust and this uses an 8 shaped hanger rubber that hangs from another spike that you should find welded to the subframe where the brake cable splitter is welded.
