I've got an amp gauge I found for a few quid to keep an eye on my battery but heard they can be quite dangerous how they're wired. Is it better to shell out for a voltage gauge, or can I wire the amp gauge with a fuse or whatever?

I have both in mine but I am a freak for smiths gauges

The only thing I can see is that the casing is earthed and the live terminal looks a bit close to the casing for my liking. That is the only thing I can see.
