Hi,

Is it possible to reverse the engine fan without removing the radiator? Or is it not worth the ball-ache?

Cheers

It's easy with the early Mk.1 & 2 two-piece rad shroud. With the single one-piece shroud you have to remove the radiator, but that's not difficult really. Have you got the fan on the wrong way round? There are a lot of Minis like that.

I've done that even with the later rad.
Its a pleasure when you've spent silly time fitting bottom hose and that damn long bolt at the rad mounting then you realise you've put the fan the wrong way round.. >_<

Yeah it's got the webbed side facing the engine!

Ditto, this is what I've done...

If you do not have an early model with the rectangular cowling on the inner wing, taking the top radiator bracket off, and the top hose, allows the radiator to be tipped back slightly, leaving room for a combination spanner to get to the fan bolts, which if I recall correctly are 7/16" AF heads. You will not get a socket and ratchet, or a torque wrench, in there without taking the radiator out, but I hardly thing that they are necessary on these bolts.

Just pop the rad out - it's not difficult. Why struggle with skinned knuckles!!!?
