Hi
On my mini, I have had to replace the brake light switch, and I then bled the system free of air.

When I now press the brake pedal, it travels quite a bit before it comes to a stop, and when I let go and press again a few seconds later, the pedal seems to travel quite a bit less.

Is this normal? The pedal is very firm, ie, not spongy, suggesting there is no air in the system. I have also checked for leaks but cannot find any.

Can anyone please advise me on what may be wrong, or is this normal?

Thanks
John

If all you have done is change the hydraulic switch, then i suggest that there is still air somewhere in the system. otherwise it could be drum brakes not adjusted properly, either fronts, rears or both, If you have disks on the front then obviously it would just be the rears.

Re bleed the system thoroughly if your drums are set correctly.

I’d been having bleeding problems recently, getting fluid from all 4 corners, but still having a spongy pedal, etc, etc.

I eventually went the trouble of buying a pressure bleeder kit, connecting it all up and you wouldn’t believe the amount of air bubbles I was now getting compared with before.

I am using ezy bleed, which works well for bleeding. The first pump and secone pump of the pedal, and the pedal is always firm, not spongy at all. Shoe adjustment required?
