I have my MOT on friday and everything was breaking.

Firstly a couple of weeks ag o my hazards just died and I purchased a new switch thinking I had shorted it out whilst changing the light switch. >_<

Anyway, after a battle with the switch and many swear words I fitted the new one and still no hazards. So now I turned to the engine bay, checked the relay which was badly rusted and put it all back togethor and still no flashing hazards. I thought then about the Inline fuse, but didn't check that first as my indicators and interior light were working. Gave that a push togethor and wiggle and bingo we have hazards. Well thats that sorted!

Driving past another Mini on tuesday night went to flash and nothing! horn didn't work or brake circuit test switch. That means a problem with the 3&4 fuse. After giving that a clean with switch cleaner and wire wool, battery not connected ofcourse, that all seems fine, for now anyway

I don't think I am going to leave my house now untill friday incase anything else wants to break before the MOT. Anything else I should check? will check radius arms and pump with greace etc.

Mini's eh?

I’m sure minis know the most inconvenient time/s to play up.

Just over a week ago mine decided that the wipers, washers, headlamp replays, and a rear brake cylinder would all pack up 3 days before the mot.

And that’s after having just fitted a new rear subframe, rear brakes/handbrake and a front calliper that was sticking.

Yikes! I'm glad they did away with inspections in Arkansas. In fact, the older the car, the less they care!

My hazards recently quit working too. Completely. I replaced the flasher relay entirely as the old one had a rattle like a burned out light bulb. Still no luck. Checked the fuses and couldn't find any issues. Haven't tried messing around with the switch itself yet. Hmmm....

Anyway good luck with the MOT!

Always hazards or in this case.. A few days before the mot turned one of the indicators on and all of em came on acting like hazards on a mk 3 with no hazard light switch :P

Think I am ready, I feel so nervous. All bulbs work and all switches function.

Going to pump the radius arms just before I leave just incase there is any sort of movement. Other than that, I need the girl to do me proud and hopefully not beat the one advisory I got last year. Which was very minor.

Failed!

No rubber on brake pedal

Petrol cap isn't sealing properly

Both sides steering rack gaiter split

And that's all it failed on

Advisory was slight corrosion on my front subframe and

My air freshener was blocking my view

And that's it, not bad for a 30 year old car. I'll get that done in 10 days.

So after changing the gaiters, I realised it was when someone had done the tracking and the cut the cable ties they had also cut the gaiter and guess what? it was the MOT centre that tracked my car last year and failed it on something they did. Ah I am taking it to the Mini and Metro centre monday to track it.
