Hi all

I've been looking around for some metal fuel pipe but can't fine any, is there any suppliers one here? it's the pipe that runs from the tank in the boot all the way underneath the car to to the mechanical pump in the engine bay, i'll need the rubber lengths that will go either end as well,

while i'm under there i need to fit the copper brake pipes that run front to back, can i just use the same copper pipe for the fuel hose as well?

Any traders want to help me out and point me in the direction of there shops.

cheers

Hi.

Fuel and brake pipes are different sizes so no you can't use the same for both

Brake is 3/16"

Fuel is 1/4"

I am currently running fuel and brake lines inside my rally car (once the roll cage fitting is finished!!!) and i ended up buying Copper/Nickel pipe from Demon Tweeks. They also do pure copper which is cheaper, but i opted for Copper/Nickel mix as its more durable and stronger.

Ebay has loads of brake/fuel lines available. Copper and Copper/nickel (also known as Cupronickel i think)

If you didn't want to make your own up, both Minisport and Minispares do pre made items at the correct length....i've never used them so can't vouch for them tho.

Thank you soo much, i've been trying to search mini spares and others but i guess i was putting the wrong words in the search,

this is the petrol pipe just if anyone comes accross this in the future http://www.minispare.../classic/copper

is it just a rally thing that people run thier fuel and brake lines inside the car? would it be a good idea to do it on my road car? i guess the main benefit is that they're not exposed to the elements

I'm running them inside because a rally mini is low to the ground (even if raised on hi-lo's) and vulnerable to having a rock puncture a line, which would mean event over and money down the pan!.

On a road car...running inside is probably not advisable. Only because if you have people going in and out of the back seat, passengers who don't know where the lines are, you run the risk of someone damaging or squashing a pipe. Unless you can protect them?

There is a safety issue aswell with running them inside.....having fuel running inside a car is a hazard in a collision....but then again, i can also be a hazard on the outside...it is flammable at the end of the day.

You are right that running the lines inside would keep them away from the wet and the salt that gets chucked all over our roads in the winter, but do way up to safety issues before doing so. I will be starting a thread on my car build soon so keep an eye out with how i do mine if you want.

There are alot of threads on here with people giving opinions on pro's and con's of running lines inside....and one horrible story which does stand out (see if you can find it) which will give you food for thought.

yeah i can see the pros of running them inside in a rally situation but thinking about it i recon i'll keep them standard they're so cheap to replace anyway and with a bit of luck it'll be years before the weather and salt corrode them.

I'll look out for your project build - i love following them they give me a lot of motivation.!!

Thank for all your help
