I have an Eaton super charger on my mini with an HIF44 at the front / cone K&N filter.
I have not used it much due to body work going on with the car. Now thats its getting cold and more risk of moisture in the air I want to avoid carb icing.
I have read lots on here about adding a source of heat. How is this done, and what parts etc are needed?
Assume from what I have read and common sense, its the air before the carb that needs warmed and not after it?

Depends if its a suck or blow setup.

Its a suck through with the air filter right at the front of the engine bay, then carb, then long pipe / inlet into engine. The long pipe gets freezing cold but I just want to know what to get if and when the carb itself freezes up inside.

That would be great if you could. Thanks!

I don't know how efficient it would be, but for a tidy look (and the cost of a few feet of copper pipe) I'd have some copper pipe coming off the heater take off on the head, it's in roughly the right place, and would help with engine cooling as well (although probably negligible
) and just coil the pipe around the inlet from the carb to the 'charger? Then at the top just join it back to the heater hose to the cabin?
You may have to have the heater on at all times though... :/

The head on mine is from an SPI, so although has the screw holes in place, there is no heater valve there, it comes off the thermostat plate. I think the idea is to warm the air before it goes into the carb, so the internal carb does not ice up with the constant sucking of cold air. I guess the warmth from a water pipe may reach down to the carb via metal to metal contact, but am sure have seen on here someone with an electrical heated element, just want to know a part number and where to mount it, assume somewhere in the air filter.
Oddly, my heater is on all the time, there is no heater control valve at all!

Thanks Nick - so the copper pipe connects to the coolant system.
Where did you place the small electric heater?
