I'd always liked Mini's but after failing to find a half decent one a few years back when prices were higher I had forgotten about them. Then last year at a classic steam rally the local mini club turned out in force, I was drunk, the missus said she'd always wanted a mini so when I got back home it was onto the toilet/thinkng chair armed with a laptop and autotrader.
Still drunk I somehow managed to find a good looking car, near by and for a good price. The car had not been repaired or modified but was described as in good condition. Owned by the same family for the last ten years I knew it should be worht a punt. A few days later the car was on the drive.
We then went on our first Mini cruise which was the Help for Heroes run that went from Cirencester, a few more trips and using it to and from work eventually something electric broke. The car stood still whilst we decided what to do and thats when we decided to get the car sorted out.
Originally planned to simply sort the visible stuff out but once it was at Lee's place we had a few more chats and decided to do the full lot. Engine out, the works.
Here are the pictures, you'll see the rust was quite advanced so quite a lot of work to sort out. Then there was the issue with the cracked front subframe!! All sorted now, running great. Next jobs we will probably look at refreshing the carpets and seats, all are good nick but need to be as new like the rest of the car. Very happy with the rims in white, wont be to everyones taste but I think they look just right... oh and the La Cucuracha airhorns never get old!
