hi everyone i am just wanting to warn you if you are looking to buy a mini that there are people on gumtree advertizing minis that are not for sale.

i have just found my own car on there advertized for sale when it is not. also if you are looking at the car on gumtree IT IS NOT FOR SALE just to be clear. my car was up on ebay but now isnt and they have the same images and the description is word for word the same.

the advertizment on gumtree is under mini cooper sport 500 the ad ref is 110823632

please dont contact these people im sure you will get scamed. they are advertizing themselves in brighton

i just dont want anyone here to get ripped off

didn't realise anything on gumtree was genuine/not broken??

Thankfully everything is now sorted. Gumtree where very good and removed the advert within 2hours of me sending the first email.

This happens on Kijiji over this way a bit also...the ridiculously low-priced car with pics pulled off of an actual ebay ad.

I don't see how a scam like this would actually work. Wouldn't anyone buying a car go to view it and then pay when they were about to take it away?

I think unfortunately they prey on gullible people who are genuinely interested and can be easily pressured into parting with their cash via paypal or bank transfer etc.

They did this with ebay - but with gumtree all you need is a fake email

they request cash sale

the 'seller' arranges to meet at a location - they know you have money on you , and where you will be , & at what time

they rob you - simple

I have seen the same type of thing with a bargain caravan advert. They will deliver it free of charge etc etc. Dont part with any money until you have the item in your hands and it is legal.

People are gullible and will part with cash and these sort just prey on them. They play a numbers game and eventually catch somebody.
