hi Ive got a 1977 with a pre verto clutch how do i go about adjusting the clutch throw out nut and whats the size of the gap and every time i go from third gear to forth the reverse lights come on for a few secs any one gt any ideas

if i recall with mine put foot on the clutch wind in nut so touches and back off 1 flat and do up lock nut

and 20 thou on the clutch arm pulled outwards

also check the haynes manual should say

Undo the throwout nut and the locknut. Be careful you don't snap the ball off the end of the arm when doing this - you must hold both nuts with a spanner on each to avoid loading up the ball.
Back the two nuts well off from the clutch cover.
Now adjust the clearance on the adjustment stop to 0.015" to 0.020" and check that the clutch position is OK. If not adjust the stop bolt until it is right.
Have someone push the clutch pedal to the floor and hold it there.
Wind in the inner throwout nut until it just touches the clutch cover.
Release the pedal and turn that nut 1/2 a flat further in.
Tighten the locknut up onto the throwout nut without the throwout nut moving at all. Again, be careful not to be=reak the ball oif the bottom of the clutch arm.
