I want to sell my Mini, and don't really know where to put it, I assume such a market has certain decent places.

Link to ebay is easier than explaining it: http://www.ebay.co.u...c-/261101998518

Please let me know if its overpriced, or in the wrong place, or what I should be doing.

Thx

Justin

There is an eBay links section on here, or you could put ad in the for sale section. As for price, there is a valuations section, but it all depends on what 'slight rusting' means. If its in scuttle, heel boards etc then you are looking at a lot of work. It looks like it will need a panels before long but without pics of the other areas its hard to say. More pics would make it easier to value.

Nice Mini. £2395 is probably a little bit too much considering the work that'd be needed to get rid of the rust. I'm sure people will make you offers with what they're willing to pay though.

You are having difficulty in selling is because you don't show enough pictures of the problem areas, and the fact the price doesn't reflect the amount of work required, just from what you've shown is front end, a panels, door skins plus possibly the scuttle.

Too much money as there is quite a bit or work to do panel wise.

Judging by you pictures l/h door re skin at the least, both A panels, there is something going on with the r/h door step at the front.
There is rust around the front panel to wing area, this would normally mean panel replacement.

At a pinch i would say £1900 but even then be prepared for some low offers.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for for your comments. My main questions was where are good places to sell it, more than the valuation, but thank you anyway. The 3 pictures I've added on the ebay link with regards to rust are most of the rust points, the rest is in good condition, the underside has all new plating, and is solid as a rock and most of the mechanics of it all have been rebuilt from the ground up from the owner before me.

I suppose it's best not to mention I paid £3k for it 1 year ago (the rust I think was just covered up) - my fault for buying something like this as my first car when I don't know much about cars and just love Minis :(

With regards to posting in the sell section, it wouldn't let me post there....so little confused.

If anyone could provide some links to decent places to post ads, preferably free, or some advise on where to sell it that would be great, thx.

You need to have done more posts, or you can become a Tmf+ member for a fiver.

As said above you need to have 150 posts or TMF+ membership. £3k ouch there certainly was rust lurking when you bought the car. I will still stand by my valuation though.

For selling ebay will get you the widest audience then there's Autotrader, Pistonheads, Gumtree, your local free ads and local newspaper.

In terms of best places to sell, Ebay has an absolutely massive buyer audience that's pretty much unrivalled by anything else. Realistically anyone buying a used car these days will at least have a look on Ebay, if only as a point of comparison. If the car isn't selling on Ebay then the problem probably isn't where your trying to sell it, and in your case I strongly suspect that it's the asking price that's the issue.

The classic mini market is on the floor at the moment and whilst you may have paid £3k for the car yourself, the reality is that if you have £2k - £2.5k to spend on a classic mini, then I'm afraid that there are much better examples out there at the moment. Realistically with the work required, I'd say your car is probably worth around the £1,800 mark. So, if you're feeling brave then put it on a 99p start Ebay auction with no reserve, that way it will get maximum interest and a lot of people will bid in the hope of getting themselves a bargain, but ultimately it will probably sell for what it's realistically worth. Alternatively keep it on a buy it now with best offer, but drop the asking price to at least £1,995 and see what offers you get. With the buy it now of £2,395 that you currently have, the listing just screams of "he's not going to consider any offer under £2k, so don't bother making one".

Good Luck

Park it on the promenade in Morecambe on a sunday with a "for sale" sign on it, everyone seems to do that, i went past at least thirty cars ( no classic mini,s though ) today and lots of people were looking.
I have seen a few classic mini,s for sale in the past and they went pretty quick.
