the guy even gave me a spare twin carb inlet manifold as well

you can still see the remains of the old "coopers" air filter sticker

i gave the airbox a good rub down then applied primer and finally a top coat of gloss black enamel

Twin HS2's are great on a 1098 so long as you have a gas-flowed head and, maybe, a better cam.
You will need a float chamber by the look of things.

i'm not using the carbs cooperman, i bought them for the airbox to use during the colder weather in place of the K&N's

If I remember correctly you've already got twin HS2s, a 266 and a flowed head haven't you?
When I get twins I'll probably go for an original air box too - make it a little bit more civilised

the engine will run much better in the colder months with the standard airbox, and also to prevent any chance of carb icing which i encountered with the K&N's on the way to bingley last january

Whats the reasoning for this??

That's the airbox I need for our Mk3 S, the one with the cut out to fit around the plastic bulkhead washer bottle.
They are very hard to get hold of with the cut out. Nice find
