Just wondering if my CV knackered or what else it might be?
Basically when braking there is a noise coming from the OS disk which sounds like there is a bit of metal rubbing on the disk?? It is only when braking and only in the one side. I have jacked it up and can't see anything obvious but when i grab the driveshaft and try to turn the disk its seems as though it moves a bit and this may be the noise.
If it is my CV I know how to do it (i think) but seem to remember that somewhere it said when refiting the shaft to tighten the nut with a normal washer first before tightening with the tapered washer???
Any advice would be great, cheers guys....

Usually failing CVs make a tick-tick-tick sound while turning. CVs will have axial movement when you try and move them around, so this is normal. The type of noise you're describing sounds more like brake disk problems. Are both of your brake pistons on that side free to move and are you confident there is sufficient friction material left on the pads?

You are correct, the typical method for the 7.5" and 8.4" disks is to put a large, thick flat washer on first and torque to the 150 lb-ft specification. Then remove the flat washer and put the split tapered washer in place and torque to 150 lb-ft again. This seats all the components axially before the wedging action of the split washer locks things up.

Cheers...
The pads are quite worn, there is a safe amount of material left but they will require replacement soon and I was going to do it while its stripped down anyway. I think i may try this for now and then see. If anyone has any other suggestions as what this may be that would be great...
Thanks...
