Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldnt find any references to it.
We have been told that there were only two types of grill fitted to the 1275 GT.
I dont know if its original to the car but ours is an all aluminium grill that is completely matt black (my other half reckons its anodised). In the pictures of early 1275GTs the grill has two bright polished bars across top and bottom. Can we just use wire wool or something to remove the black paint on those two bars paint or am I missing something and its a completely different grill? Our GT is 1973
Thanks, Fran

Does your grill have the Leyand badge in the centre or the Mini badge that is long and narrow?

GT's did indeed only come with 2 types of grill. The early cars up to around 1976 had the blue vertical mini badge, and the top and bottom raised area silver. Later cars have the middle raised areas silver, and a smaller leyland badge, oh and the 77 cars had the later arrangement but with MINI instead of the leyland roundall.
Yours should be the earlier type, the same as my profile picture.

Hi, and apologies for lateness in getting back to say THANKYOU to you all but I had the chnce of a few extra shifts and mini needs mean grabbing them when I can....
Steely - our grill has the MINI name and the long blue narrow diamond
badge running top to bottom
72clubman - our grille looks like your grill except that its all black (it looks the correct grill but it doesnt look painted so I guess its either been "customised" properly or maybe was never polished from new??
Purple_fly06 - thanks for the tip on removing the paint - we will give that a try when we have sorted the other things out.
To you all - again a big THANKYOU for your help, it reinforces why I decided to try joining this forum and before you ask, yes I will get some pics up before too long.
