Hi,

There is a previous thread in the FAQ section here on TMF that explains all the braking options available for the classic mini, including the fiesta calliper conversion. (Those that work with 10" wheels are highlighted in green). http://www.theminifo...down-on-brakes/

The problem with the fiesta calliper conversion is that thanks to it's success, sourcing all the parts can be a lot more difficult these days than it used to be. Also due to its popularity, those parts that are available often aren't as cheap as they used to be either. So it's not necessarily the cheaper alternative to the 7.5 cooper S conversion that it once was, do also be aware that the fiesta conversion does not fit under all styles of 10" wheels either.

Did any Fiestas have vented discs? Obviously the standard caliper will not fit over vented disks. People with engines in the upper part of the performance range might want vented disks, and if they appreciate the looks and handling qualities, 10 inch wheels, so a combination of both could be quite useful.

the mk2 xr2 had vented calipers and discs and i was looking into getting a set of discs turned down and do a trial fit but ended up buying a complete mk2 standard set off of a member on here as my engine will not be too mad. there is a set for sale on ebay at the moment for a very good price half of a cooper s set http://www.ebay.co.u...=item232303d5c0 hope this helps

Thats not a bad price as it looks like all the works been done. It doesnt say whether that kit comes with the correct custom hoses or not although hoses are pictured. A custom set will cost you another £40 or so so its worth asking the seller first. The carriers are the hardest to come by. You can use mk1 or mk2 calipers i think but they must be from a solid disk car not vented. By all accounts its not a bad set up. There is a link somewhere to a you tube vid done by graham from miniaddicts on this conversion if i remember rightly. Well worth a look.

It's true that the carriers are difficult to get hold of these days, but I believe that you can use early ford Ka carriers as an alternative, do get this confirmed though.

The MK I Fiesta conversion gives brakes that are better than S brakes - and no need for a servo either. Even with non vented discs I never manged to fade them.
