Do you mean when you first turn the key before it fires up?
When running the oil pressure warning light shouldn't be on. If its coming on then it would suggest a problem with the oiling system. Check first of all that you have enough oil in it.

Firstly is the engine running - when light is lit ? - if Yes , get a gauge , pipe it up to the sensor hole & confirm you have oil pressure
If you have pressure at the gauge -
I would short the oil pressure sender wire to the block - is the bulb now bright ?
if yes then I suspect the sender is faulty - they can leak , and oil / carbon gets between the contacts creating resistance
so the bulb will be dull
hope this helps

Is the battery flat? What colour wire do you have connected to the oil switch - and what colour to the coil? I suspect you have the oil wire on the coil..........

I appreciate your difficulty. Coil negative is white/black to distributor and possibly tacho, oil pressure is white/brown, and with old, dirty, faded wires it is a mistake that anyone could make. White/red also sometimes gets confused with white/brown. Coil positive is white, no stripe, so you will be able to identify that one ok.
I suggest that you clean the ends of the wires carefully to make the colours more visible, and borrow someone with normal sight for a minute to tell you which is which.
