Looking to change my coil but not sure which one I need. The existing one has been sprayed so no labels. Have read that there are ballasted and non ballasted?
Also if I want do do away with points in future and go electronic whats the best and most cost effective way?
Cheers

I'd go for an electronic module to replace the points, like the Britpart one. If the engine is in near original spec, the original dizzy will give the best advance curve.

if you have a white/yellow and white/pink wire on the coil positive it still is
cheapest way go electronic is a conversion kit.
plenty on ebay and also the Britpart kit, last link I saw Paddock Landrover spares was cheapest for the Britpart
http://www.paddocksp...tronic-kit.html
you can run these kits with ballast or non ballast coils...but can explain the wiring if you get one.

The checkmate is ballasted ignition, i'd say go for leccy conversion like the one above with a 12v coil, like a lucas dlb101 or lucas dlb105.
