Hello,

I am currently selling my BMW k1200rs cylinder head as i no longer have the funds to do the conversion...

This head came from a formula BMW race car. The engines in these cars are lifed in hours. This particular head has 18hours of running time. The milage can be roughly calculated by saying that the car will do an average of 100mph around most circuits, so 20hours running would calculate that the engine has done roughly 2000miles..

After removing the head from the engine, i checked the clearences between the tappets and camshafts (all came to within tolerance). Then completely stipped it and checked that all the valves were straight and true followed by re-lapping in each valve to ensure an air tight seal...

Supplied with the head is everything you need to start your own K1200rs A-series engine.

* K1200rs head
* Injecter inlet manifolds
* Throttle bodies with throttle position sensor and idle stepper motor
* Water outlet boss
* Water temp sensor

This head really is in superb condition and would be a great buy for someone wanting to do the K1200rs conversion..

Please take a look at the photos i took... a couple were a too big to upload so i have attached a direct link to photobucket...

As you can see this head is next to new..

I am looking for £550 for whole lot..

I can deliver at an extra cost to the buyer, by means of a courier...

But would prefer collection...

I live in the Leicester area.

Please feel free to ask me any question via PM..

Is there a step by step guide anywhere? And how much would it cost to finish the conversion?

Yes there is a step by step guide available from a company called specialist components who can manufacture all the extra components you will need for the whole conversion...
I think the guide is about £20.

Hope that helps...

To finish the conversion I was budgeting £2500.
That's with all the machining, buying the bespoke parts and stand alone ecu...

Scratch start engine build.

A performance 5 port will cost about that.

A full on miglia level spec 5 port could cost 10k.

i knew some money was spent, i suppose just 4k for fabrication of parts in the engine bay after this head has been bought, before the shell ect was welded ect just seems like a few quid compared to a vtec/motorbike conversion.

its not like you an say your a purist if its a bmw head... or is this purely race ??

if you did most of the machining and building it may cost around 2.5k, after buying the lets say £500, manifold 150, ecu is £400 alone, belts, end plate, pulleys £450 so your already over 1k without doing any maching. The power gain is significant and reliability can be very good

I agree Phil...
I was going to be doing everything myself as I have the means to do it...
At the end of the day you could spend 20k if you really wanted...

Anyway
