As the title states I am thinking about swapping to 10 inch rims instead of keeping the 13's. My reasoning behind it was aesthetics and so I don't have to cut the brand new wings I just welded onto my mini. Most of the Pro-motive cars I've seen are running tens. I'm either going to go 13 by 7's Chrome superlights or a 6 by 10 Minilight anthracite in colour.

What I want is some input on the pros and cons of both so that will help me make my decision.

6x10 Anthracite.

I have them in 12x5.5 and I <3 Them.

Look wise yeah they are great. I need some input about R1 drive ability.

Your probably best sticking with 13's then because they have so much more grip.

I know its not a pro motive, but...

On my 16v mini there is a huge difference when on the 10's compared to the 13's. The ratios are very different. My 13's make motorway driving a doddle where as on my 10's the thing is screaming its tits off to get anywhere.

It is a very hard choice, I love the look of my 67 on 10's, it looks fantastic, it really does drive so nicely but you have to compromise with any long distance driving.

Where as on the 13's the thing is really nice to drive (I find anyway, not heavy at all which i think is the main problem people have) its lovely over any great distance but you have to hack holes in the front wings and attatch arches which leave holes.

I am the worst at decicions, which is why I have two front ends (one with cut outs for the 13's) and arches which can be removed leaving no holes and multiple sets of wheels.

I have never driven a bike engined mini, or been in one, but I am guessing that the wheel size is some what of a vital choice when it comes to final ratios? I havent seen any bike engined minis on 10's (not that i have looked very hard) and maybe there is a reason for that?

The visual stimulation of the archless 10's is a hands down winner for me.

How ever if the 10's is a compromise in performance then it would have to be the 13's, I am a function over fashion sort of person I think!

Lots of these guys run 10s. I just sold my 8.5 inch discs. Looking at the Kad 7.75 kit and rear discs. I think the pick up would look better with 10s. Sleeper while parked anyway. And I just put fresh panels on the front. I really don't want to drill holes. Are 10 by 6 Going to rub at all?

With the promotive kit, you can just change the sprocket ratios to suit the 10" wheels? This is why when you order the kit they ask what wheel/tyre size you are running.

Their old demo car had 10s, so you could give them a call and have a chat with them what the driveability etc was like? It would be worth considering what brakes you could fit also.

Well if you can run 10's with no gearing compromise then hands down on 10's.

I have run two separate sets of 10x6's and never had rub nor did I have to cut anything although I have read on here people have needed to cut/ had some rubbing but personally I haven't
