Been reading through a few posts about alloys, seems a lot of people are using wheel spacers which are damaging wheel bearings, just wondering if the deepdish wheels are better or worse for the bearings. Other thing is, will the 6x12 wheels fit into the standard Mini City E 1990 wheel arches without rubbing?

I'm just looking into a set of alloys, just not sure which kind to get. I would like some of the 7x13s and some wide sportspack style arches, just I'm not really up for the idea of cutting the arches. So I'm guessing either 5.5x12 or 6x12 are the largest wheels I can get into the arch without it catching.

Not quite sure on 10s, the rest of the car looks like a mini cooper (was already like that when I bought it before you moan!) so I don't think the 10s will quite suit the style of the car, and may look a little too small within the arches.

Oh yeah, and then that's another thing, I've got to look for some new arches to suit the alloys... heh.

you will need to cut the arches a bit on the front corners and you will need biger arches mine are GP5

as for wheel bearings my mini has done 40k miles and as far as i can remember about 1/2 of that are with 6 inch wide wheel and i cant remember changine the front bearings but 1 of the back ones might have

deep dish wheels are much the same as fitting standard dish wheels with spacers., Also with deep dish wheels you WILL need to trim the wheel arches and they will stick out a little beyond the standard plastic arches. One thing deep dish wheels certainly do is drasticaly alter the steering and suspension geometry

Right ok, so they're probably not the best wheels to go for then. I was looking at bungle's mini, the red one with white roof, and widish arches with the sort of chrome trim on the edge. I like those arches, just need wheels to suit them :\

Just thought actualy

Deep dish wheels are actualy designed for cars with drums all round without spacers, in which case the will be fine.

ive got 5.5 x 12 ultralites, and they still rub. i prefer these in a way as you get the little shiny dish, but its not massive so wont be too much of a problem with rubbing and they stick out a little from my arches which i think looks cool.
