Off topic abit. im slowly rebuilding mine. i know mine is a reshell. it was reshelled in 82 into a 80 shell after the original 66 shell was rolled several times on a night rally. now with all these threads about tax diddleing/ringing should i just give up on mine as i suppose im going to be getting ripped like all these ebay ringers
you should be ok if iit was done before they change the points system around 2009
before that you could use a second hand shell and keep reg ,as long as you used most of the other major parts ie:subframes engine steering rack susspention

as long as you state it has been re-shelled into a later shell at some point you should be ok , IMO if someone who is looking for an early car should know what they are looking for.
you can't get mk1/2 shells from BMH now so what can you use ???
Fitting a mk4 heritage shell would be wrong aswell , surely........

This really isn't my field of expertise, so I don't know exactly how old this car is. But it looks more like a genuine example that has been styled to look like a late sportspack to me, (as opposed to a late sportspack that has been assigned an earlier cars identity). It appears to have drip rails around the roof gutter, which I believe makes it a pre 76 model. It's also clearly a carb engined model, without a break servo, and with the washer bottle under the bonnet (although I thought that the washer bottle would have actually been on the bulkhead on a 71 model)

So I'm not too sure how old this one actually is, but it's certainly not the MPi sportspack, with a centre speedo pod and 71 plates, that it appears to be at first glance.

Even if I had the largest barge pole ever created, I wouldn't take it within a mile of these two Minis. It's sad that this seems to happen so often, let's just hope nobody buys it.

No, it's a later shell. Single bolt front subby and there aren't any drip rails from what I can see. Not an MPi sports pack either. Looks nice though.

I thought it looked like it hand the drainage holes in the roof gutters in this pic, like I said though this really isn't my area of expertise, I wouldn't know a genuine drip rail if it slapped me in the face!!
