Hi all, just purchased a high spec cylinder head. Yet to find out exactly what it is but i suspect a stage 3 or 4. It has double valve springs am i right in thinking a standard tappet rail wouldnt be suficient and can anyone suggest what rockers i need? Thanks

They'll work fine. Upgraded rockers are horrible cost to performance benefit.

What's the rest of your engine spec and how do you know it's high spec but not what spec, out of curiosity?

Purchased a supercharger and cylinder head, the head is brand new the previous owner had it done to his specification cost him alot of money the springs and valves are uprated and where the rods go through has been sleeved its very hollow looking and smooth and the underside all the ports are highly polished. Dont really mess with engines internally so not really sure what stage it is so im going to pop it down to my local a-series specialist see what he says.
Was told by someone the standard rockers may not handle it.......

Was this one on ebay by any chance? If so I think I saw it and it didn't look worked at all bar being shiny, but the photo's weren't ideal.

If it was build to the sellers specification, can you not ask them for it?

But regardless, you don't 'need' rockers to go with a head. Usually they'll be used to exploit a camshaft or give 'cam like' improvements but fall pretty short on that front.

You want an early set of pressed steel rockers in preference to the nasty sintered rockers. But DO NOT go for high ratio rockers. Is the cylinder head designed to work with the supercharger? Polishing the ports etc is a mistake!

Ideal - bit expensive on the postage..... If for a 1275 engine (or 940 head on a small bore engine) the rockers will need to be re-aligned so they act directly on the valve stem tips.

Yeah I thought the same, but the other options currently where £55 or £70+.

Some of these might be handy, not seen any info on them myself but the pressed rockers are circa 1.27 so the fancy bushes could push it up to 1.3, maybe.

Don't bother - the standard lift will be fine.

Saves a few quid!

The realigning (as I have a set of pressed rockers in my garage waiting) is done with shims I'm guessing?
Sorry to hijack but you gotta admit, it's interesting :D
