so guys after looking round at people who do cylinder head work i came up with smart performance , so i did abit of digging on here to see what others reviewed him like ,and he did have alot of bad reviews on here , but it seemed like he pulled his finger out and was doing things on time and right now , so after giving him a phone call he seemed very helpful to do the work , so i arranged to drive to Tamworth to drop my head off to him , when i got there the doors were open and a old couple were there getting a barbecue , so i asked them if they knew where chris was and they told me hes opening a pub up and they were having an open day so he would be there all day , so i left the head inside and gave chris a ring , he seemed very helpful again and told me it would take 2 weeks to get sorted so left it and drove through town , and seen his nissan nivara parked outside "The red lion" pub and his grandparents car. on the second week of chris having my head i gave him a ring to make sure it was done for me go to collect , he told be he took on alot of work when i dropped my head in , and i highly doubted that but i gave him the benefit of the doubt and he said he would ring me in the next few days , so i gave it another week and gave him a call , he told me that i would have to ring the shop as he doesnt know because hes been doing something different past couple of weeks , running the pub . so i managed to get hold of the shop and spoke to a helpful chap john , so i asked him about my head and he said he knew nothing off it and didn't realise there were any 1275 heads in the shop so he told me he would give me a ring back after 20 minutes and he did ring me back to tell me that hes found 2 1275 heads but he doesn't know which ones mine as the shop is having a change around at the moment , so i decided to go collect my head and take it else where , so on collection of my head i learnt that Chris has sold all his equipment , rolling road , all the machinery the lot . After talking to john he was telling me how he had been working out of chris's unit the past few months as his caught fire and most of the work that came out of there was johns , after talking to him we came to an agreement for john to do my head and he would get it done asap , after 3 days my head was ready , ported polished , bigger valves , new guides and new springs . so i arranged to go down and collect it off him , he then rang me up to tell me he was up this way so i could meet him if i want save travelling an hour and a half , so we arrange a place thats about 10 minutes from me , and i went meet him , he was a helpful chap and explained that chris was still taking on work with no intentions of doing any and there is stuff that hes been promising to do for a year there , and chris will be shutting the shop soon and i was lucky to catch john as hes moving soon because of all the bad press with the unit, the head looks great and the porting looks nice on it so i would recommend john to anyone his company was RRE Radical Race Engines

I got the impression that there was something dodgy with Smart Performance, on the ebay feedback a couple of people has paid for modified cylinder heads and they hadn`t received them.So sounds like you were lucky.

i dont think so at the moment as he hasn't got a rolling road , but i think he is going to be setting up in a new unit so could drop him a text find out his number is in my other review

There is a reason he was banned from trading,buying and selling on TMF.
He fleeced me whilst I was on the front line in Afghanistan. Long story short only after a lengthy period and threatened court action did we get some compensation.

My engine is there because I had problems with it. Is the shop still open? Anyone near there who can check this for me? I need the pull out my stuff asap... I live in the Netherlands so that's a bit of a big problem.

All work will be completed, refunded or both depending on individual circumstances.

So far Chris has been correct to me and it's sad that things worked out like this for him. I've got good hope that all things will be sorted correctly.

i don't need to Chris i collected my head and that's the end of it , work was promised to be done within 2 weeks , i rang up the second week and you said it will be done for the 3rd week i rang up the 3rd week and you said you haven't been there for 2 weeks so how did you know it would be done for the 3rd week ? plus when i rang the shop no one had an idea about the head and they didn't know where it was , so £30 worth of fuel had been used and 6 hours of my time had been wasted

i cant fault chris for the way he set my mini up its running great! and ac dodd was even impressed with the end power result from my engine spec.
