I came to the conclusion that an engine rebuild, a tonne of welding, 100 miles a day, and a student budget to live on didn't quite fit together. If it wasn't for the Swiss Cheese Syndrome the little bugger is developing, all would be well.
On the plus side, I've found myself a low mileage Mk2 Golf GTi, which isn't a completely boring modern car, and it's rather a lot easier to keep up with the maintenance.
Basically, I'm saying goodbye for now. I'll be back as soon as I can afford to run a Mini as a second car. They really do deserve garages, especially with the amount of salt they chuck on the roads these days. Thanks to all for the help and advice, with which I have been able to use to allow for many, many enjoyable drives.
Toodle pip, and see you all in a few years!
