Or for a more aggressive M & S pattern there is a Maxsport RB1 in 145/70 x 12 and they are really excellent.

The Maxsport tyres are excellent. I've used them on a Rover 214Si rally car and they are strong and grip well on poor surfaces. Those 145 x 12 look really excellent for a Mini on gravel or snow.

Not really. For snow, mud or gravel you need a narrow tyre like a 145.
You might find a 165/60 x 12 which would fit a 6" wheel (just), but a 4.5" wide wheel with a 145 would be much better. The reason modern cars are so poor in snow is due to the excessive tyre width.
