I think they are the same thing. Both adjust the ride height of the car.

I'm form Aus, so I have a slightly different selection, but over here the order of quality goes as follows:
Adjusta-ride: Work fine, don't drop as far as other brands, need a different size knuckle joint.
Hilos: Shinier, go a bit lower
Ripspeed Hilos: Full height range, proper drainage and good quality.
Matt Reid (aka 'Miniman') Adjustables: Machined alloy, choice of radius for different ride stiffness, full height range and drainage. Best quality.

as far as i know hilo's are the only mini adjustable suspension that are shaped to adjust the spring rate when lowered
the rest just adjust height
the rest just adjust height

How does a chunk of aluminium stuck on the end of the rubber donut adjust the spring rate? Shape or otherwise, short of piercing into the donut won't affect it's spring rate.
There's nothing stated about that on the information of them either.
Always keen to learn though.

I don't know but there could be overhanging metal, and as the doughnut compresses it metal touches it, increasing surface area and altering spring rate?
Weight dispersed over a larger area won't penetrate as far as pinpoint weight?

The problem would be the impinging element would have to be linked to the shaft of the unit, so it would project further the lower you went to provide varying increase as you wound the hi lo down, otherwise it would provide no benefit.

it's to do with the shape of the seat on the hilo that the rubber spring sits on
