Luckily I have a spare rear wheel and tire (Pirelli P6000) in the garage pumped up to 30PSI.

probally had cracks in the sidewall or previous damage (driven on semi flat etc)
Good job it was at low speed. Ive had a front tyre blow on my dads truck whilst doing 60mph on motorway, its quite scary as it happens very quickly.

one of our customers had a blow out. They brought it straight to the garage to be fixed
Trouble is they were 60 miles away

I once had a Porsche 911 and a rear tyre blew at about 90 mph at night on the A1. The trouble was it was a brand new Pirelli P7 and had only done 150 miles (ouch!). I think I ran over some debris on the carriageway. It was raining and I had to fit and inflate the 'space-saver spare which was a skinny thing. It was quite 'interesting' to be trying to hurry in the wet with a 235/50 tyre one side and a skinny space-saver the other.

That's the reason they have a speed limit on them! And also why they are deliberately made so ugly so people don't drive them any further than they really have to
