that just happend to my m45

got a nother blower in peices so put good rotors in

ive got a few 2 stroke road bikes and was thinking

i want to put some 2 stroke in the tank just to help lube the supercharger inners not trying to stop it pulling the coating off but the bearings in the blower

ive got some fully synthetic castrol

just wondering what ratio to run it on .. i know i dont want heaps of oil in there

thinking maby 60ml to 34liters or 2oz to 7.5 gallons ??

I don't know about that particular model of supercharger, but usually the rotors do not touch, but run with a very small clearance, being geared together. There is presumably a pressurised oil feed from the engine to the supercharger to lubricate the gears and bearings, which should be all that is required. If the rotors have nade contact and damaged each other, it is because the drive gears are worn or have failed, and no amount of lubrication of the rotors themselves is going to help that in any way.

If yours does not have gears, but relies on contact between rotors, I don't see how it will run smoothly, if at all. But supposing it is so, it would be best to obtain the manufacturers specific recommendations for lubrication.

dont add oil to the fuel, you will reduce the octane rating of the fuel,

also I think the reason the rotors loose the teflon coating is due to having fuel go through them

I did some more investigation, and found this on the Eaton web site:

Q: I’ve decided I need to change the oil in my supercharger. How do I do this?
A: If you do want to change the oil there is one fill/drain plug on the front face of the front cover. It will probably be an Allen type plug. You will have to suction out the oil using a syringe or other method before replacing with new oil. Fill levels are dependent on application. For aftermarket units, please consult the aftermarket partner company that produced that specific kit. For OEM units, please see the list below or email infosupercharger@eaton.com. New oil can be obtained from any GM or Ford service parts facility, or from one of the Eaton aftermarket supercharger partner companies or remanufacturers. Please make sure you do NOT use any other type of oil, including synthetic motor oils. These will cause failure.

So there is an oil reservoir, not a pressure feed from the engine, as I had thought. But note the warning about using the wrong oil, especially synthetics. I know that those often are bad for gearboxes, so am not entirely surprised.

i knew al that other stuff allready ..
that rotor assembly was in my housing it did bugger all miles maby 4000 over 3 years . but who knows how many miles it had on it befor i got it .

. i had a new set of rotors sent to me . and i rebuilt it all with new oil in the pulley end where the gears mesh . used lucas synthetic supercharger oil . and i ran out so i used motor oil in the other end where the Binis waterpump take off is

it has 4 roller bearings in side . thats where i was thinking alittle 2 stroke will help lube the bearings . just as they help apex seals in rotarys

Well, if you have put synthetic oil in something where the manufacturers specifically forbid it, it is not entirely surprising that the coating is damaged, as may be the gears. Gear wear would allow the rotor surfaces to touch, which they normally do not. You will not correct a problem like that by adding oil to the fuel.

Why not just stick exactly to the manufacturers recommendations?

eaton say use synthetic oil im using synthetic supercharger oil not some **** stuff

the gears are fine if you look above i never said that adding 2 stroke to the petrol will stop the coating coming off . just ot keep the bearings lubed

Could it not just be that before you got it it did heaps of miles driven by someone who wasn't very mechanically sympathetic?

its vmax one so who knows how many miles were on it . but it was fine when i got it .

Yeah, but most engine parts look fine just before they go wrong. That's why most parts are lifed. Well, they are for Motorsport on the caterhams!

the octane will go down 2 units when running in bikes and carts .. but thats at like 30-1 ratio .. i dont think that 60ml per 35litlers will drop the octane a huge amount

i would be searching for the reason the bearings have failed, the blue on the end of the shaft, is that heat or your oil?

you are taking this all the wrong way .. it wont smoke at such a low ratio

no bearings have failed .. that is factory oil

No, but the drive gears have partially failed to allow rotor to rotor contact.
