I just bought the chrome washer jets to replace my stock ones. What is the trick to get the stock ones off. I cant see under there and can't feel a nut. Am I missing something or just that mechanically daft...

Take off the hose from the bottom of it and just pull through the hole from the outside. They are in quite tight and you might have a job getting the chrome ones in. Some of them aren't exactly a good fit.

There aren't any nuts to remove to get the old plastic ones off. Just a bit of patience and lots of wiggling.

The late OE ones are held by a plastic barb which needs compressing to remove them, pinch the lower stem with pliers and push them up from below. Some chrome ones won't fit to a post '80 shell without fettling as the hole in the scuttle is D shaped rather than round to keep the OE jet pointing the right way. Instead of opening up the hole in the scuttle (you could end up starting some nice rusting there if you do) carefully file a flat onto the new chrome one, bearing in mind which way you want it pointing when you are finished.
