Hi I am currently looking at a mini project for sale. Included is a 1993 mini shell with no log book or plates. The engine is 1976 and there is a log book which belongs to the same car the engine was taken out of. The original 1976 car is beyond repair.
Should I buy it or stay clear and could it cause any problems?
Thanks

I wonder why theres no log book or plates? I wouldn't trust it, I'd stay away from it.

The seller said he bought the shell because the old one was beyond repair and he bought it with no log book. Is there any way I could track down the log book?
Thanks for your help

Is there a VIN number? On the shell stamped under the scuttle or on a plate on the bulkhead?

Hard to trace from a VIN - that shell may be a stolen car that has been stripped down. You can't legally use on the road it unless you find it's original Reg Number. You can of course use it as a track car - provided you move it about on a trailer.

Mine is purple, but I have been told that's normal

I could check with the seller if there is a VIN number stamped on it, if there was what would be the next step in tracking it down?
Thanks

contact dvla! The police can also do checks on vin numbers, but I dont know whether they'll do it to give you a registration number!
