Hi There,
I have tried searching but can't find anything so here goes my 1987 mini city E will not start it has power in the battery but there is no power getting to the dash so when i turn the ignitionthe lights dont turn on and none of the headlights work nor the hazzard light so im not surewhat to do.

Is there a rapid clicking noise when you try to turn it ?
First steps check you're terminals, cables and alternator.

Check your earth straps, both the engine to bulkhead and the battery to boot floor. If they are corroded up or loose then it won't start.

After that I would check the connector at the back of the clocks to see if it has come loose.

Thanks for the quick replys there is no noise when i turn the key there is apsolutly nothing and i shall check the earth straps and the conections and thanks again for the help.

Does anything work at all ? if bot is the battery positive lead on at the starter solenoid correctly ?

As above, check earths and the starter solenoid in the engine bay under the washer bottle, mine cut out the other day and no power anywhere, first thing I checked was the battery earth then starter solenoid and found one of the main power cables loose, which when tightened up gave power to everything else :)

I thinki checked the starter solenoid its on the starter motor? andeverythingis correct and i checked the earths they were fine and it still shows nothing?

Are you sure the battery has charge? How have you checked?

Any power when jump leads are used ?

My dads got this thing with a light on it and it lights up when it is touched the the positive and negative andthelight is bright,not tried jump leads,where would i connect the jump leads to?

Ignition switch gets my vote.

If you get no dash lights at all.

I have no lights on the dash or any other lights. I had dash lights this morning but as i turned the key the lastbittostart it up it wentclick and the lights turned off.
