You remove your old cone when the "Special tool" does't work. Im very happy it's out an i can start to rebuild with new parts...

:D

1. Take what looks like a perfectly good Mini. (which actually has "sagged" suspension..).

2. Remove wheel, Shocks and rebound rubber...

3. Locate f#ck~d suspension components.

4. Saw through trumpet.. Take care now..

5. Remove

6. The root of all my problems... A bent cone??

New parts ready to go in... Waitin on mini spares to deliver replacement dust rubbers for upper suspension arm.. Got time to clean and paint to make it look shiny :D

Skeptics said it was impossible without the tool PAH..

But how do you fit the new one? Me thinks you may need the tool after all ;-)

I'd use copper grease if I were you. Barbecue sauce just isn't up to the job.

putting it back on is easy as i assume he's going to replace the cone with a hilo, wind it right in, fit, wind out. done.

As said, buy hi-los, set to minimum, insert, adjust.

I've done this plenty of times.

Well I do have the tool, but it didnt work because the old cone had become mishapen (last pic) so the thread didnt match up.
With the new one, Yes will compress with tool.. And I can shrink the hilo - so should fit in with ease. Gonna rebuild the upper arm first though. Then attack the other side.

cone is mis-shapen as its been put in the subframe wrong and hasnt located in the 'ring' at the top of the tower..
will prob find this ring to be pretty battered now and will need to be bent back into shape so the new cone can locate in it correctly....
