so took my mini out for the 1st time after a while, and first time in rain and dark. dont know were to start lol. wipers were crap but thats easily fixed. steam did not want to clear from anywhere!!!. had to keep wiping the front windscreen. rear demister only works on the top!!! then the lights are just crap.
anyone know why my windscreen wouldnt clear up? I did have it on the screen option, could feel warm air coming were the pipe goes, that leads to the vents, but no hot air coming out the vents. Also is there anyway to sort the rear screen without replacing the glass?

Rear screen sounds like the heater lines have breaks in them (usually caused by people wiping over them to try and wipe away condensation), and to fix neatly won't be easy. I think you can buy (or at least you used to be able to buy!) a kind of metal paint that conducts electricity that you paint on where the breaks are. Have also seen people stick tin foil on!!!! Both of these look rubbish. I'd buy a replacement if it were me. Fitting a screen is not that hard to be honest.
Heater wise....make sure the pipes ain't blocked or have holes in.
Also, if your carpets are wet/damp, the heat from your heater will start to evaporate any moisture in the car and thus steam up yer windows. even a wet jacket drying inside whilst you are driving can cause misted up windows. Try driving with the window down slightly to solve this....and also get the inside dry!!!!!
If heater is old, the fan might be not doing its best too so might be worth replacing if it sounds knackered.
Lights - replace with Halogens instead of sealed beam units. I have some halogens with Phillips bulbs and they are amazing!!!!!
Wipers - yeh, join the club. they are rubbish and mine are brand new!!!!!. I'm gonna get some good quality expensive bosch blades!!!
Hope this helps
